The earthquake of the magnitude 5.7 occured as an aftershock to the big shock earlier there which measured a magnitude of over 6. The earthquake was  161 km E  Milan (pop 1306661, local time 09:00:03.5 2012-05-29) 38 km NE Modena (pop 181011, local time 09:00:03.5 2012-05-29) 9 km NE Mirandola (pop 23078, local time 09:00:03.5 2012-05-29)
