A different way of saying high-pressure area. Anticyclones usually have an airpressure between 1025 and 1030 hPa, however the highest ever registered was 1080 hPa in Siberia. It is the opposite of cyclones (low-pressure areas), which usually have a pressure between 990 and 1000 hPa.
